Monday Miscellany - Super Bowl Ads
Super Bowl ads are usually the main reason I pay any attention to the Super Bowl. If my team were back in it, well, then I'd have a different reason to watch...but they're not. SO close, though.
But I digress...
I am so proud of one of our dear friends who just happened to be cast in a BIG commercial that aired during the Super Bowl this year. This is a big deal, people!!!

Photo Friday--catching up
The last time I posted any pictures of our little G-O baby on here, she had just turned three months old. She's now nine months old. Didn't I mention how time FLIES???
What follows is a super quick photo recap of the last six months.
Four months old:

That's Pinteresting!
I'm a tad bit addicted to Pinterest.
Ok, fine...
I'm totally addicted.
It's definitely my guilty-pleasure of choice as of late.
Since I'm on there pretty regularly and am always finding new ideas for all sorts of things like crafts, diy projects, home decor, kid stuff, and so much more, I figured I'd start a new weekly post with some of the things I've found on Pinterest. I'll share a few of the pins I've made and found. Some pins will be useful. Some will be silly. Some will be witty and wise. Some will be just because I like them...or at least something about them.
To begin, allow me to introduce you to Pinterest.
Pinterest is basically a virtual corkboard for you to organize images and links of interest on the internet. It's like a visual grouping of your bookmarks. It's pretty much genius. For example...
Say you go to an online store's website and see a lamp you like. You can "pin" a picture of it on a board in your Pinterest account. If you're trying to comparison shop and have found several different lamps you like, pin them all on pinterest. Then you can go to your board grouping all your lamps and see images of them all together.
You can come up with your own titles and categories for your boards and you can have as many or as few as you would like. All you have to do after that is get to pinning!
You can pin things you find on the internet or you can repin things you see on another pinner's board that you choose to follow. You can even search the "Everything" page by typing a word or phrase in the search bar and see what other people around the world have pinned using those same terms.
Here are a few pins to get us started:
Something useful--a way to see what you really wear in your closet.
Something wise--thank God for all I have.
Something for the kiddos--fridge snack station.

Hello...Again!
I've been totally MIA for the last six months.
I got caught up in life, lost track of time, and just plain got lazy. I also got too wrapped up in other social media...but I've recently trimmed the fat on that one.
I admit it...I'm actually not sorry.
Why, you ask?
Because I've been soaking up every single minute with my new little family.
Time flies when you have a baby. Seriously. You sit and wonder where the time is going even as you sit with your precious child in your arms and marvel at how a baby can change and grow with each blink you take.
So, then, naturally, you try not to blink. But you can't really do that because your eyes dry up. Then they water uncontrollably to moisten them again. And then that turns in to crying because you can't believe that you just let your eyes get so full of tears and made your vision so blurry that you missed a few more precious seconds.
Oh, wait...
Is that just me?
Ok...not really, but you get the point. Still, you truly sit in awe of how quickly your helpless and needy little babe suddenly became this force of nature, grasping for every shred of independence s/he can get, and is no longer your itty, bitty baby. Instead you now have a little person full of spunk, energy, personality, and a will of his or her own.
It's pretty incredible.
So, that's my reasoning behind the six month absence from the blogosphere. Not an excuse...because I don't need one. Just take it as more of an FYI.
And look forward to a new Wednesday series beginning--you guessed it--Wednesday!

Mini Pancake Muffins
I like pancakes. And, really...who doesn't?
What I don't like is flipping pancakes, trying to find a way to keep them all warm without getting soggy, or else letting others eat while you keep cooking.
THEN, I stumbled upon Bakerella's recipe for mini pancake MUFFINS.
That's right.
I said MUFFINS.
This is an amazing idea. No more flipping!
I have to admit, though, I didn't take the time to make my pancake batter from scratch like she did. Being a new mom, sleep and time are both elusive, and I don't want to try and measure out ingredients first thing in the morning. Perhaps I will in a few months (or years), but for now, I just jazzed up a pancake mix we have in the cupboard.
This is seriously easy, folks. All I used was pancake mix, water, and mini chocolate chips. This go 'round I also added chopped walnuts (not pictured).
Just stir up your pancake batter to the consistency you like and divide evenly in a mini muffin pan. (BTW, make sure you generously spray your pan beforehand with non-stick spray...just to make life easier once they're baked. Trust me on this one.)
Bake in a preheated oven for 8-9 minutes and PRESTO! You now have mini pancake muffins.
You know, I like the sound of pancake poppers or pancake dippers. That's essentially what you do with them if you don't add sweets. Pour yourself a little ramekin of syrup and dunk away. How easy is that?!

Three Months Old!
Baby G-O, you have amazed Mommy & Daddy with each breath you have taken and with each new skill you develop. You have surpassed our wildest dreams and we fall more in love with you each day.
You have spoiled us rotten with your smiles. We have ultrasound pictures of you smiling at 20 weeks gestation and pictures of you smiling since you were two days old. Many people told us it was just gas, but we've since discovered that's not true with you. You just smile all the time and you do it socially. You've been smiling at us (with recognition) since May 5th. You weren't even one month old, yet you would smile when you saw Mommy talking to you.
Now, you smile ALL THE TIME--and we LOVE IT!
It's hard to snap pictures when you're not smiling. You don't quite recognize the camera yet, so you're not smiling for that. You smile the most when you lock eyes with someone. It's the most precious thing.
Now, at three months old, you giggle and you recognize your hands and your feet. You play back with me and you are starting to reach for your toys. You can roll over, but usually when you're not trying. You're beginning to cut teeth (poor baby!) which is no fun. Daddy was an early teether, so we're gearing up for this new development. You're so tall, which is also from Daddy. You've got strong legs, like Mommy, and you like standing up. Sometimes Mommy can let go of you with one hand and you stand on her lap all by yourself. You like sitting up with a couple pillows propping you up and you hold your head up like a champ.
You're also discovering your voice now--and how much volume you have. While walking through the store the other day you decided to demonstrate your vocal range for everyone in the entire store. A woman complimented me by saying you've got great pipes. You weren't crying, just showing off your newly discovered skill. Albeit loud, it is still adorable.
All-in-all, we love you, Darling! And we are so very proud of you.

The Beach

Photo Fun, Part II

Picture Fun
Baby G-O is just so much fun! She is such a smiler, it melts our hearts. We love how happy she is all the time and we try to capture it in pictures as often as we can. I'm always looking for inspiration pictures to use as a guide for getting those precious moments. Usually I look at family portraits or baby portraits and try to reproduce them with my point-and-shoot digital camera. It actually works out pretty well. Until about a week ago, all the pictures I was looking at were glamorous or vintage inspired shots using the likes of Instagram to filter. That was until I saw a series of pictures on Pinterest that stopped me in my tracks. (By the way...if you've never heard of Pinterest, look it up by clicking here. It's pretty much awesome.)
So, anyhow, while perusing Pinterest, I stumbled upon this:

What an AMAZING idea!!!
So, now I have set out to duplicate a few and also come up with some scenes of my own creation--with Baby G-O both awake or sleeping in the pictures. I just can't help but try to catch her smiling or making one of her adorable facial expressions while she's awake. Still, I'm sure I'll snap some of these pictures while our precious little one is zonked out. We started out with the surfing picture over Memorial Day weekend. Here's how our version came out:

Now I'm working on turning my little angel into an astronaut and a butterfly. Stay tuned as I post the results of upcoming photo shoots/scenes.
